Well...what to do tomorrow. There are no games. It's "Williamsport Welcomes the World" tomorrow. Sounds like a reason to either lock yourself in your room or get out of town. There's a retired couple staying here at the B&B. They are from Phoenix and have been traveling all summer. They spent 6 weeks in Boston and are here for the Little League ordeal before heading to NYC for the U.S. Open. They stay in Phoenix 8 months out of the year and then leave when it gets too hot. If I did that, I'd only be in Arkansas 3 months out of the year. They hope to be in San Diego in a few years so they can just stay put. He likes baseball. She's not crazy about it but deals with it. We all went to the Japan/Venezuela game today. He's wanting to go see Penn State in State College tomorrow, so that may be my ticket out of town. That ballgame today was as long as a 9-inning MLB game. It was like watching the Yankees and Red Sox. Lots of discussions. Lots of pitching changes. Lots of time between pitches. The Japan team is pretty impressive. They are so much smaller than the others. I think there is one kid that weighs over 100lbs. Their game with Mexico should be good.
Some of the teams that are out have already taken off. I wish they'd stay around. Some lady I ran into at a local sub-type place for lunch said her mom worked for Little League for 40 years. She said all the teams used to stay and they'd parade around the field before the championship game. The reporter staying at the B&B is gone since Georgia took off yesterday. I did see a couple of their players that stayed around today.
I'm not sure what's going to happen with the weather yet. I booked an extra night in NYC on Wednesday in case I need to pass back through to catch the Mets. I'm thinking of just going ahead and planning it that way because either the Mets are going to get rained out Monday or the LLWS is going to get rained out Sunday. I'd just have to get all my trains rescheduled. Not a barrel of fun but doable. Why doesn't Irene just take a big ole right turn and go play in the ocean?
