What a day of baseball. 2 great games. Both extra innings. 16 total innings. 4 total runs. This is Little League. These are suppose to be sloppy, high-scoring games. The Cardinals need to make the trip over and do some serious scouting. The Cardinals managed to give up 6 runs in a single inning today. There are 2 games down for tomorrow. I'll go to the 4pm game between Venezuela and Japan. I've just about decided to pass on the second game simply to avoid the crazy crowd of the local team. The people that run the B&B I'm at also run the restaurant next door. With all these night games, I've yet to make it over. If they have a TV, they can mark me down for tomorrow night.
I don't know if I have mentioned the dancing umpire yet. He is absolutely cracking me up. I love it when they announce him as an umpire because it's guaranteed entertainment. His name is Sam Fontecchio and he's from Michigan. The first time I saw him he was umping first base for the Mexico-Japan game. Just before the game, he started blowing kisses to the Mexican crowd. I was trying to figure out why they put this hispanic-appearing guy on first base for a game involving Mexico. I didn't know his name at the time. It turns out, he just has way too much fun. And, I'm guessing he's Italian based on his name. They play music between every half-inning. He immediately starts shaking his legs and throwing his hands in the air. All the other umpires sit there for the most part. He can't keep still. You'll see pictures of him later.
I got some clothes washed today and got started on getting the Field of Dreams and Mt. St. Helens photos together. I made it up to the Little League Museum which was pretty good. If Conway is still without a Little League, they will have one before I get done.
